In 2015 the number of tourists visiting Turkey has dramatically decreased as a result of the increase in terrorist attacks and uncertainties created therefore. In consequence, the Council of Ministers (“Ministry”) rendered a decision to provide financial assistance to A group travel agencies that bring tourists to Turkey. This financial support is worth $6.000 per flight to Gazipaşa-Alanya / Antalya / Dalaman / Milas – Bodrum Airports (for scheduled or non-scheduled flights) and İzmir Adnan Menderes / Kütahya Zafer airports (for non-scheduled flights only) arriving between 1 April 2016 and 31 May 2016.
This decision has been limited to a certain period, however the crisis in tourism still continues. Therefore in 6 June 2016, the Ministry rendered a new decision to amend the validity period of the previous decision which is now extended until August 31. In addition the Ministry decided that the payments will be increased %30 for the non-scheduled flights occurring between 1 June and 31 August 2016 which bring at least 150 passengers with airplanes having 200 or more seats.
